About the Journal

Aims

Macrolinguistics and Microlinguistics (MaMi) Journal is a quarterly publication for all those involved in linguistics, whether as micro linguistics and macro linguistics or as an international Lingua Franca. The Journal links the everyday concerns of practitioners and linguists with insights gained from relevant academic disciplines such as linguistics, culture, and language.

MaMi Journal aims to provide a medium for an informed discussion of the principles and practice which explore, investigate, elaborate about the phenomenon for linguistics and culture around the world. It also provides a forum for the exchange of information and ideas among members of the profession worldwide. MaMi Journal publishes research into linguistics with relevance to real-world issues. The journal is keen to help make connections between scholarly discourses, theories, and research methods from a broad range of linguistic and other relevant areas of study. The journal welcomes contributions that critically reflect on current, cutting edge theory and practice in the linguistics field.

The Editor of MaMi Journal is supported by an Advisory Board which assists the Editor in guiding the development of the Journal, and by an Editorial Panel whose members referee submissions.

The journal's Forum section is intended to stimulate debate between authors and the wider community of linguists and to afford a quicker turnaround time for short pieces. Forum pieces are typically a commentary on research issues or professional practices or responses to a published article. Forum pieces are required to exhibit originality, timeliness and a contribution to, or stimulation of, a current debate. The journal also contains a Review section.

Scope

The subject area is Arts and Humanities categorized Linguistics and Language and Language and Linguistics. Macrolinguistics and Microlinguistics publishes articles and book reviews in the traditional subdisciplines of linguistics as well as in related disciplines insofar as these are deemed to be of interest to linguists. This includes grammar, both functional and formal, with a focus on semantics, syntax, morphology, phonetics, and phonology, pragmatics and discourse, psycholinguistics, and sociolinguistics. The focus may be on one or several languages, but studies with a wide cross-linguistic (typological) and cross-cultural coverage are also welcome. The perspective could be synchronic or diachronic. Macrolinguistics and Microlinguistics also publish one special issue a year in these areas, for which it welcomes proposals. Macrolinguistics and Microlinguistics is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal of international scope. Keywords: social sciences; linguistics; languages; macro linguistics; micro linguistics.

What does MaMi Publish?

  • Research articles (up to 8,500 words) in the field of linguistics and cultural studies;
  • Article Reviews (up to 1,500 words);
  • Book Reviews (up to 1,500 words);

Peer Review Process

Research articles and Reviews will undergo a double-blind, peer review. This also applies to manuscripts submitted as part of all teaching, outreach, and engagement articles related to the linguistics studies field. The decision of the reviewers will be acknowledged by the MaMi Editors in accordance with eligibility for publication. The authors will be informed of the review decision and all relevant comments will be forwarded to the authors. Please note that all reviewers in MaMi are volunteers and professionals, therefore, the review result up to 8 weeks.

Publication Frequency

Macrolinguistics and Microlinguistics is published online twice a year. Fall Season and Winter Season is published within September to February for issue 1. Spring Season and Summer Season is published within March to August for issue 2.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.  There is no charge or fee to authors for article submission and article publication charges.

Copyright

Material published in MaMi is done so under Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0), with copyright remaining with the author.

  • Articles published online in MaMi cannot be published in another journal without the explicit approval of the MaMi Editors;
  • Authors can 'self-archive' their articles in digital form on their personal homepages, funder repositories or their institutions' archives provided that they link back to the original source on the MaMi website. Authors can archive pre-print, post-print or the publisher's version of their work.
  • Authors agree that submitted articles to MaMi will be submitted to various abstracting, indexing and archiving services as selected by MaMi.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party. Registered users will receive notifications about submission or review processes in which they are involved and emails related to their role in the processes.
